Odds and Ends

Some little things that weren’t expansive enough to warrant posts of their own:

  • sloan-stareGrey’s Anatomy has terrible music. I’m not talking about the songs they choose, though they’re quite often pretty blah. I mean the actual composed score for the show. Did you see Forgetting Sarah Marshall? Remember when Peter mentioned how the Crime Scene: Scene of the Crime music wasn’t really music but just ominous tones? Well, I’ve realized that this is exactly what Grey’s has, just dramatic cues to heighten the scene. Somehow I never really noticed how terrible it was before, I’m going to say because I was blinded by seething Izzie hate.
  • The Battlestar Galactica: The Face of the Enemy webisodes were pretty impressive, as they actually seem to contain an important bit of development for Gaeta which (it seems, I could be totally wrong here) won’t be contained in any of the final episodes. As such, they have far more relevance to their parent series than most webisodes do. A big step forward for web content.
  • leverage-titleIs Leverage the only show to forgo any sort of title card or opening credits sequence at all? I think it fits the show well, and really helps the opening minutes of the show flow nicely. Is this the start of a new trend, because I think it could work well for certain shows (Lost for instance would be better without the title card) and all you’re really doing is throwing that one final credit up during a scene with the rest of them.
  • I just finished the first season of True Blood, and they really didn’t do a good job with the season finale. With so much of the ep being setup (including a rather lame and vague cliffhanger), it felt like episode eleven would have been a much more suitable finale, while twelve would have been a passable season two premiere. It just seemed like a really weird place to leave the series for an extended period of time.

  1. I didnt even notice that leverage had done that, which means it’s working. Maybe this has something to do with digital cable and dish because we all have that fancy on screen guide thing now. Dont know whats on? press guide, now you know.

And thankfully True Blood’s not gone for that long, I’m excited to hear they’re already back shooting.
