And the Award for Best DVD Set Ever Goes to…

Lost! Most shows come out in pretty lame sets, with a trend towards smaller and smaller packages at the expense of artwork, booklets, or any other cool extras that make your purchase feel special. Sure there have been some great sets over the years, the Invader Zim boxed set in the Zim house with a Gir toy is sweet, and I’m a big fan of Band of Brothers’ ammo belt-like fold-out sheet inside a metal tin. But all of these pale in comparison to the awesomeness that is the special edition version of Lost season five:lost s5 se dvd

To fit with the 1977 time travel plot, this set comes with some classic-era Dharma Initiatve swag, including patches, a binder, some pamphlets, a map of the Island and all the various Dharma stations, a CD (that looks like a record, of course), and even a friggin’ VHS tape with the Dharma orientation video. That’s right, this DVD set comes with a VHS tape. The DVDs themselves each come in a slipcase designed to look like a 5 1/4″ floppy disc so as to not break the 1977 ness of the set.

As if being the best season of Lost to date wasn’t enough to begin with! The only way this could be more awesome was if it came with a polar bear.

  1. Best season? It’s blatantly the WEAKEST. The boxset looks brilliant, but it’s a shame the season itself wasn’t brilliant.

  2. Worst season was the second. Started off great, then nothing at all happened for about 10 episodes, then got good again for the end.

Except for The Variable I loved every episode of season five.

  3. They didn’t include a polar bear? Pffff, forget it then, I refuse to buy this set.
